What Does It Cost To File Bankruptcy?
Under the new bankruptcy laws it now costs $335 to file for bankruptcy underchapter 7 and $310 to file for bankruptcy under chapter 13. Couples filing only payone filing fee. The court may allow you to pay this filing fee in installments if you cannot pay all at once.
The number of installments shall not exceed four(4), and the final installment shall be payable not later than 120 days after filing the petition. For cause shown, the court may extend the time of any installment, provided the last installment is paid not later than 180 days after filing the petition. Fed. R. Bankr P. 1006(b)(2).
